In an attempt to harness the potential of providing
seamless communication across entities in dense urban and remote
rural areas, HFCL offers a Wireless in local loop solution based
on Digital enhanced Cordless Telecommunication (DECT) standards.
The corDECT WLL system comprises of a DECT interface unit (DIU),
Base Station Distributors (BSD), Compact base stations (CBS)
and Subscriber Access Units (SAU). The DIU acts as a DECT exchange
for the wireless subscribers and interfaces to the local exchange
(LE) on the PSTN side and BSD or CBS on the subscriber side.
Where twisted pair availability is scarce and distance is large,
BSD form a crucial part in providing connectivity using fibre
and radio. The CBS, a pole or a tower-mounted unit, provides
wireless access to the subscribers with the PSTN. The SAU provides
an interface to a standard telephone set, facsimile machines,
data modems or payphones.
